Class Description
The Beginner tap class requires no prior experience in tap, just an enthusiasm for this rhythmical and exciting style of dance! The class will focus on exercises that break down the steps of tap to their most basic sounds and movements, gradually building them up through choreography during the course of the semester to allow the dancers to execute the essential tap steps, if not more! Rhythm and musicality will also be taught to help the dancers control their movements and complement their sounds with the music.
There will be an opportunity for the dancers to perform a tap routine in the AUDS annual showcase in Spring, however, dancers not participating in the showcase are absolutely welcome to continue attending classes during the rehearsal season. Above all the class should be fun and give the dancers a sense of fulfilment as they gain new skills!
Requirements
Wear anything that you feel comfortable in, and if you do not have tap shoes, trainers are recommended. Whilst tap shoes are not required at this level for class work, they will need to be sourced for those taking part in the showcase dance (we will help with this as much as possible).
